SUMMARY:
Management Business Solutions is actively seeking a Director of Purchasing for a fast-paced distribution client in the Grand Rapids, MI area. The ideal candidate will take on the responsibilities of directing all purchasing operations and material management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that customer service and needs are a top priority in the completion and distribution of orders.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase operational and cost efficiency.
- Conduct vendor negotiations.
- Oversee all functions of purchasing including review of market changes, eradication of extra and unnecessary materials, managing claims and contracts as well as internal and external corrective action.
- Train, manage and evaluate purchasing support staff.
- Develop and manage the department annual budget.
- Practice best safety policies and procedures at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required.
- 5 years of management experience in a purchasing or materials capacity required.
- Experience using ERP preferred.
- 2 years of experience conducting inventory and warehouse management preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma experience preferred.
- Supply Management or Inventory Management Certification preferred.
