Department Summary
The Learning Facilitator for Fleet Training is responsible for delivering instruction to Consumers Energy fleet mechanics.
The instructor will also serve in a support capacity for equipment operation instruction to various CE business units. The
individual in this position will actively participate in the learning community to increase consistency in Consumers Energy
training practices and increase the effectiveness of the learning function. The Instructor will proactively manage internal
resources and creatively plan and execute training events within Consumers Energy that reflect and balance the priorities
and resources of the company.
Job Description/Responsibilities
This position is responsible for preparation, presentation, analysis, and evaluation of Fleet and Equipment Operator
Training.
Train courses in soft skills and other non-technical areas to employees throughout the company
Coordinate with team and supervisor to schedule and instruct courses in accordance with the needs of the business.
Deliver training in multiple formats including: classroom delivery, technology assisted, and as a business support
resource.
Manage the effectiveness and efficiency of the delivery and evaluation strategy around instruction.
Ensure support of Consumers Energy's learning management system and other tracking and delivery tools.
Proactively identify learning opportunities in support of business objectives and performance goals.
Generate relevant options for addressing problems/opportunities and achieving desired outcomes. Challenge paradigms
and look for innovative alternatives.
Concisely and regularly communicate learning and performance results to key stakeholders; solicit and act on feedback
from Consumers Energy stakeholders.
Complete and submit monthly report to manager, detailing monthly progress toward scorecard items and other relevant
activities.
Periodically observe or work alongside front line staff to ensure subject matter expertise is maintained.
Effectively evaluate the programs being delivered, working in collaboration with the instructional design team on
improvements.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment demonstrating all safety related policies and procedures.
Must be able to interface with all levels of personnel and model expected behaviors to employees.
Must be willing to travel and train at various company locations with some overnight stays.
Must be comfortable in an environment where continuous innovation and improvement is the norm.
Possess strong commitment to the goals of the team along with an energetic and upbeat attitude is essential.
Requirements/Qualifications
A High School Diploma is required.
Extensive experience in fleet maintenance including gasoline and diesel engines, air brakes, hydraulics, diagnostics
(OBDII), aerial devices.

CPLP certification
Mechanic certificate holder
Directional Boring experience
Experience operating equipment such as a mobile hydraulic crane, excavator and trencher
2-4 years of experience in fleet service and equipment operation
Experience in an instructor role
Demonstrated application of instructional design concepts
Excellent facilitation and classroom management skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of Web based management resources such as SharePoint and Learning Management Systems
Experience utilizing SAP

Overview
The Learning & Development Job Family is utilized in those areas of the Company where employee development and
skills training is provided. Typically employees in this job family are required to have aptitude to operate computer
terminals, utilize various computer software programs, present training in a classroom setting and document that training
requirements are met.
Nature of Work
The essence of the work that is performed by the Learning & Development Job Family is to deliver employee
development and technical skills training programs for employees of Consumers Energy. This includes: assessment of
development and/or training needs and delivery of appropriate development and training programs. In addition, the Lead
positions supervise other Learning & Development employees. For some jobs in this family, professional certification or
licensing may be required.
