keep the power on and allow our field operations to work safely and efficiently. Our Fleet Department is responsible for
repairing and maintaining a diverse fleet from large bucket trucks to generators, backhoes, hybrid, and alternative fuel
vehicles.
Job Description/Responsibilities
The Master Automotive & Equipment Mechanic, under general supervision, performs mechanical work on vehicles and
equipment at the highest skill level by such duties as:
Inspect, diagnose, adjust and repair such systems as hydraulic systems, air conditioning systems, hydraulic and
pneumatic brake systems, carburetor and emission systems, automatic transmission systems, starting systems, charging
systems, and electrical systems.
Tune engines which include the use of all types of analyzers.
Diagnose, adjust and repair front-end suspension systems.
Diagnose and repair cylinder heads.
Make minor repairs to booms, buckets, vehicle and equipment bodies.
Perform routine inspections of man lift and material lift aerial devices.
Perform incidental acetylene welding, cutting, heating and brazing.
Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License with a Hazardous Endorsement (CDL-X) within 89 days.
Requirements/Qualifications
A High School Diploma is required.
5 - 7 years of applicable experience is required.
The following skills / experience may set you apart from others:
CDL class A w/tanker endorsement/ hazardous material.
State of Michigan, Secretary of State | SOS - Mechanic Certification.
National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification.
Automotive Degree from Accredited School.
Essential Functions:
Inspect, diagnose, adjust, repair and overhaul all components of motor vehicles, mounted equipment, trailers, all types of
construction equipment, power tools and similar equipment. Make structural repairs to booms, buckets and vehicle and
equipment bodies. Perform major man lift device inspections. Perform acetylene welding, cutting and brazing, as well as
arc welding and cutting. Perform other similar or related work. The omission of additional general duties does not prevent
the assignment of future additional job tasks if such tasks support the needs of the business and are reasonable for this
position.
Hours and Travel:
Candidates may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, or as the business needs necessitate. This may be
related to storms and other business related emergencies.
