The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for originating mortgage loan applications according to approved policies and established programs, preparing quality loan files for submission to underwriting, and overseeing the full relationship with the customer throughout the process. This position requires expertise in developing business relationships, both inside and outside the bank, and creating active referral partners to source mortgage loan opportunities, and cross-selling other bank products. Constantly maintaining a thorough knowledge of industry related news, program changes, and compliance requirements is also necessary.
We are seeking someone to perform the following:
- Business Development and Relationship Building
- Develop relationships with centers of influence
- Generate new loan relationships through referrals and new business prospecting
- Meet or exceed mortgage volume production goals
- Quality Loan File Preparation and Submission
- Interview applicants to develop information and to determine whether a loan is within the bank’s lending policy and product scope.
- Analyze financial and related data for use in determining creditworthiness of loan request
- Provide recommendations to the appropriate approval source
- Maintain High Level of Industry and Product Awareness
- Stay up to date with program and product changes
- Build understanding for developments and changes in the markets we serve
- Work on dept. Projects as assigned
- Cross-sell Non-Mortgage Bank Products
- Coach and train bank branch staff to identify potential mortgage leads
- Leverage the customer lending relationships to cross sell deposits and other bank products
- Maintain and Comply with Applicable Industry Laws & Regulations
- Must be registered with the NMLS in accordance with the SAFE act
- Must re-register w/ the NMLS annually
The candidate must have:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education/training equivalent of 4-year college program.E. Bachelors Degree)
- Over 3 years to 5 years of experience
