Job Description:
Dematic has an immediate need for a Welding Engineer in our Grand Rapids, MI office. The selected candidate will report up through the Mechanical Engineering department and will work closely with our Installation and R&D teams in developing and implementing appropriate welding techniques and procedures for use in fabrication and installation. Travel is required at approximately 30%, may require some international travel.
The successful candidate will have experience with the following:
* Developing and Writing Work Instructions - Standard operation procedures for field and manufacturing welders.
* Designing and Developing Tools and Fixtures- Designs, develop and improve tooling, gagging, jigs and fixtures for field and manufacturing welders.
* Team Leader/ Participant- Leading or participating in process improvement teams and teams formed to accomplish specific tasks.
* Technical Support- Providing technical support and information to other departments, vendors and customers as requested.
* Assisting in development of the weld quality control process.
Job Family Responsibilities:
* Completes system layouts and specifies appropriate equipment.
* Completes recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction.
* Performs complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design.
* Coordinates and engineers multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Structural Steel knowledge is a plus.
