Requirements:
- BSME or Design Engineering Bachelors’ is highly preferred, but may look at someone that is the perfect fit in design without a Bachelors, but would get a Designer title if that was the case.
- 5 years’ of automotive powertrain and/or driveline design engineering experience is required specifically with ground vehicle OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, or 3rd party services. Highly prefers someone from the Tier 1 supplier side of things as this is a systems level position versus a component level position, so may not be a fit if they only have OEM experience. (In terms of salary if person has say 5 years of torque exp with 1-2 years of Creo & Catia exp they would be in the $80k range, but customer is flexible. If 15 years’ or more would considering paying higher than $85k-$90k).
- Strong engineering based IT and tools exp with strong knowledge of experience in CAD (Creo Parametric 2.0 or higher and Catia V5 is absolutely required. If candidate has been actively using Creo with 1-2 years’ of experience that should work because it is a fairly newer program. There is a lot of design involved with this position. Will learn PDM systems (Windchill PDMlink) which is a company-based program.
- Experience with CAD attached CAE lead design ways of working and associated software technologies is a plus, but required. Fundamental understating of CAE simulation modeling and analysis. No specific CAE software as they will be trained on Windchill.
- Strong knowledge and experienced in manipulating 3d models for spatial vehicle package and layout design.
- Strong knowledge of application of GD&T and detailing drawings
- All highly preferred: 5-10 years’ of product understanding and experience of ground vehicle geared products, torque devices, propshafts, and FWD halfshafts. May also consider candidates with PTUs, CV joints, Axles, Gears, etc. Casting (sand & die) design experience. Sealing system design experience.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to multitask between work packages and CAD/PDM environments
- Ability to document and evolve processes and work instructions.
- Strong problem solving skills
- Must be team oriented – speak up, ask questions, and work well with others
- Be willing and able to engage in moderate amounts of domestic and international travel independently. 10-25% travel mostly to company plants in NC & OH, but maybe a couple of times per year may have to go to Germany, UK; doubtful to China or India, but it may be a possibility.
