Any or all other work-related duties that may be requested to be done by the City Manager, DPW Supervisor, Crew Leaders or their designee.
1. Minimum REASONING ability. Ability to apply principles of rational systems, to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.
2. Minimum MATH ability. Ability to deal with system of real numbers, limits and continuity, statistics, angles, linear, circular, inverse functions, etc. Ability to use practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios, measurements, proportions, etc.
3. Minimum LANGUAGE ability. Ability to read, write and speak. Be able to prepare documents, letters, correspondence, records, reports, using a format and correct grammar. Ability to participate in discussion, and give instructions, which can be understood by those listening.
4. Minimum PHYSICAL DEMANDS. Exerting up to 20# of force and lifting up to 100#. Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
- CLIMBING - Ascending and Descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like. Using feet and legs, hands and arms.
- STOOPING - Bending body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist, requiring full use of lower extremities and back muscles.
- KNEELING - Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- CROUCHING - Bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and spine. CRAWLING - Moving about on hand and knees or hands and feet.
- REACHING - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- HANDLING - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hand or hands.
- FINGERING - Picking, pinching, or otherwise primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.
- TALKING - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to the workers and public. To convey detailed spoken instruction to others accurately, loudly and quickly.
- HEARING - Perceiving the nature of sounds by ear. Moderate noise level.
- VISION - Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Ability to tell the difference between colors. Prescription Glasses are acceptable. City does not provide Prescription Safety Glasses, safely goggles only.
- ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS - Exposure to ALL weather conditions, dust, fumes, etc. The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of various types of work that may be performed. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: High School Education or equivalent GED. Valid Michigan Driver’s License & Commercial Driver’s License, Group A with an “N” tanker endorsement.
- Ability to obtain a pesticide license. (Cost of the license to be paid for by the City.)
- Physical and Drug Testing. -Random Alcohol & Drug Testing.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to work well with the general public and fellow workers.
- Ability to read maps, sketches, schedules, documents, forms, etc.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required due to work schedules. Must be available to work days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be available for on-call / stand-by duty.
AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT BY THE CITY OF LUDINGTON:
- Employee must reside within 20 miles from the City of Ludington boundaries within one hundred eighty (180) days (6 Months) of date of hire.
- Employee must obtain a (CDL) Commercial Driver’s License, Group A with a (N) Tanker Endorsement, within six (6) months of hire-in-date. Cost of the initial CDL License will be the responsibility of the employee. Employee must retain CDL License as a condition of employment, including meeting the physical requirements.
- Employee must retain a valid Michigan Driver’s License, without driving restrictions other than eyeglass requirement as a condition of their employment. -Employees must have operable telephone service in their residence and/or cell phone.
