Department Summary
The Corporate Political Affairs Director requires excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills to ensure
the company executes a world-class political engagement strategy. It is imperative for the Corporate Political Affairs
Director develop and maintain effective and trusted working relationships with a broad cross section of company
personnel, but also with policymakers, party organizations, PAC leaders, and strategic organizations and stakeholders.
He or she must have a deep understanding of political dynamics and processes, and have the ability to work with minimal
daily
supervision and be attentive to ensure compliance with the Company's Code of Conduct, lobbying and financial
compliance obligations.
Job Description/Responsibilities
In collaboration with Federal and State Governmental Affairs, oversee and manage the company's political engagement
strategy including the Employees for Better Government political action committee, grassroots, and other corporate
political activities.
Ensure compliance of all corporate political activities with all applicable laws, rules and internal corporate policies.
In collaboration with Federal, State and Public Affairs develop and execute a strategy to strengthen relationships with
past, current and future community, state and federal leaders, including regional events and other engagement and
relationship building opportunities.
Lead coordination for high-profile corporate sponsorships with a political engagement focus such as political
conventions, policy conferences, and other state, regional and local events.
Provide project management for corporate strategic advocacy campaigns and initiatives.
Manage contracts and utilize a data-driven approach to support the company's political and advocacy objectives.
Support State Governmental Affairs Executive Director with state advocacy efforts on assigned public policy matters and
representation with strategic trade associations and organizations.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum four year degree and at least three years of relevant work experience.
Extensive knowledge and experience in the Michigan politics.
PAC or other political fundraising experience.
Prior experience with issue, public awareness, or candidate campaigns.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with applicable laws and rules associated with corporate political activities.
Extensive knowledge and experience with grassroots advocacy preferred.
Highly effective communications skills and ability to relate effectively with internal and external constituents.
Excellent organizational skills and able to function with multiple tasks under deadline.
Proven ability to do multi-year political strategic planning on key issues. Impeccable ethics and a high level of integrity.
