General Responsibilities
Works with users to support applications and network activities. Responsible for the company-wide network operating system and network system software. Serves as a technical resource to users.
Education / Work Related Experience
Bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in a complex network system environment or Associates degree plus five years experience in a complex network system environment or graduation from high school or equivalent plus seven years of experience in a complex network system environment (a combination of relevant college course work/training plus a minimum of one year of relevant work experience may be used to total seven years experience). Requires advanced knowledge of all facets of complex network system environments, such as Unix, and/or Windows Server. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide variety of external professionals and in-house staff from diverse social-economic backgrounds. Official transcript will be required.
Current Hours and Starting Time
Full-time, 40 hours per week, position.
The starting time for this position is typically 8:00am. Evening, weekend and/or holiday hours may be required.

Travel is required in this position. Physically must be able to perform the following:
- Climb a 2 story ladder
- Walk a mile in 20 minutes
- Be able to cover on foot a reasonable distance on a job site.
All of the above items are to be accomplished while carrying a laptop computer.
Maintain a high degree of experise to research, analyze, evaluate and recommend network and microcomputer application and operating system software/hardware.
- Installs, maintains, tests, enhances, and provides performance tuning for complex network operating systems and network system software.
- Provides advanced monitoring, performance tuning, and resource utilization.
- Provides advanced diagnosis and problem resolution.
- Serves as liaison to software/hardware vendors.
- Serves as a high-level technical resource to support staff.
- Leads technical and professional employees in support of network and operating system software/hardware, and may coordinate district-wide network activities.
- Responsible for design and integrity of aplicable network security.
- May be responsible for hardware asset management.
- Provides technical assistance to supervisor and/or appropriate others to evaluate hardware/software, prepare/review bid specifications and participate in ad hoc projects.
- May be responsible for the development and documentation of relevant disaster recovery plan
- Reviews and writes technical specifications for software/hardware.
- Provides, with other members of workgroup, on-call support.
- Maintains a high level understanding of current and emerging relevant technologies
- May assist with budget preparation
- May select, train and supervise assigned staff
- Performs related duties as assigned.
