MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in social science -AND- one (1) year of experience working in juvenile justice, mental health or social services. Master's degree is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must successfully complete physical restraint training on an annual basis.
Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.

JOB SUMMARY: Serves as the lead coordinator and ambassador of the Day Treatment Program, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based services to youth; provides direct supervision to program staff, oversees daily operations and fosters a safe, structured and supportive environment for clients; acts as the primary liaison between GCJJC secure programming, the probation department, the court and contracted service providers to ensure seamless communication and service integration. Under the general supervision of the GCJJC Center Director, the Coordinator champions program excellence, promotes positive outcomes and performs related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates day treatment activities, including admissions and releases, ensuring population lists are current.
- Facilitates a close working relationship between organizations and agencies.
- Coordinates staff in daily operations and activities regarding the care and treatment of clients.
- Reviews the work assignments of staff and ensures policies and practices are enforced.
- Manages emergency situations.
- Participates in the selection and training of new staff.
- Coordinates the agency workforce in the absence of management staff.
- Ensures proper documentation.
- Maintains regular contact with courts and other related agencies.
- Works with staff to develop and deliver strategies for handling client problems and addressing program issues.
- Communicates with the community, staff, and parents for information exchange.
- Ensures all case management documentation and reports are entered into the case management information system and/or distributed appropriately.
- Attends staff (residential) and management meetings to assess clients, discuss group and program activities, and provide status reports.
- Ensures compliance with behavior management system guidelines and evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Organizes and directs day treatment interventions for clients, serving as group leader/counselor and conducting group sessions.
