Summary & Qualifications:
SUMMARY
The Student Success Coach will provide academic support to adult students in the areas of campus and community resources, technology, time management, organization, study skills, goal setting, executive functioning, and other non-cognitive areas. They will also provide administrative assistance to the Student Success Coordinator in the form of training, data collection, curriculum, content creation, coaching procedures and other administrative tasks. The Student Success Coach will assist with the development and presentation of Student Success Center programming, especially for adult learners, and work with the Student Success Coordinator on various tasks as assigned. The successful individual will have the ability to perform complex tasks, knowledge of basic academic skills and strategies, the ability to maintain detailed records, familiarity with online learning platforms, and a desire to help students.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES and LICENSES
Required:
• Bachelor's degree and experience working with students
• Experience using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and video communication tools (e.g. Google Meet and Zoom)
• Experience tracking and reporting data using a database
• Experience with program development and implementation
Preferred:
• Master's degree in a related area plus one year related work experience
• Experience in academic support
• Experience in curriculum development
• Cover letter is preferred
Essential Responsibilities
Supports Student Learning
• Assists students with the development of academic success and technological skills
• Assists students with completing goals through empowerment coaching
• Provides students with information on Student Success Center and NMC and community resources
• Work with Student Success Coordinator to create and implement social media strategies to communicate important college information to students
• Provides referral to appropriate College staff, to a counselor, to an advisor or to an outside agency, as appropriate
• Create and coordinate ongoing live and virtual student engagement activities with success coaches, and other campus departments.
• Participate in campus-wide events to promote success coaching
• Assists the Coordinator with tracking faculty referrals and flags and determining follow-up procedures.
• Assists the Coordinator with maintaining intake and follow-up data for students engaged in coaching.
• Maintain consistent follow-up communication after each coaching session.
• Support for summere programs, including Adult College Edge.
• Assists students with FAFSA completion.
Team Responsibilities
• Provides customer service by receiving calls and greeting students with a friendly welcome, information and direction
• Create and market Student Success Workshops
• Maintains a clean, orderly environment for the students using the Center
• Create, update and maintain files as delegated by Coordinator
• Respond to requests for information, exercising discretion in obtaining and providing factual and confidential information related to office and College operations
• Well versed in Microsoft Word/Google Docs® and Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets®
• Perform data entry and run reports as needed
• Completes projects assigned by Coordinator
• Assist with development and delivery of student success programming
• Assist in planning and execution of new student Orientation and follow-up procedures.
