Molex is seeking an experienced Sourcing and Procurement professional to join our global Metals category team as a Global Category Manager. This role reports to the Director, Metals Category.
The team is responsible for approximately $600M in global spend and works closely with the internal stakeholders for the Metals category to champion global strategic sourcing activities in an effort to reduce costs, secure supply, and optimize deliveries; with an intent to ultimately prevent stockouts, leverage spend across internal buying groups, and maintain continuity of supply. Additionally, this team is responsible for directly managing the top 20% of metals suppliers (e.g. business reviews, contracting, negotiations, etc.). Focused in Raw Metals (metal strip, wire, tube, and alloy bar).
Location: This is an onsite role. Candidates can be based out of either of our offices in Rochester Hills, MI, or Lisle, IL.
What You Will Do
Develop and execute Metals category strategies for single or multiple global categories of spend, coordinate activities across all regions to identify and qualify suppliers capable of providing products and services to meet business requirements globally, ensuring productivity, the lowest cost of ownership, and develop strategic suppliers into partners
Lead and participate in team collaboration where category management expertise is required. Ensure category strategy is understood, supported, and implemented globally.
Monitor supply markets and commodity trending for competitive changes and prepare cost models for respective category
Primary owner of Supplier Relationship Management for strategic supply base within given category
Be a leader and work independently to establish strategy timeline, managing deliverables, and ability to appropriately identify and escalate issues when necessary.
Drive continuous performance and process improvements.
Champion change and innovation. Leads initiatives that span virtual teams across the world and cultures.
Provide leadership and guidance in the following ways; stimulate creativity / innovation in others, foster new ideas, support those who initiate change and take risks, promote a global perspective.
Foster a collaborative environment among stakeholders while building and maintaining strong relationships across various functions. Leverage and build enthusiasm and support for adoption.
Advise business about similar strategies employed by other "best in class" companies and other Koch entities.
Closely collaborate with adjacent business depts. to ensure adequate and timely delivery of agreed services in line with agreed service levels.
Ensure optimal balance between value for money and cost savings is achieved, while ensuring quality and excellent customer service.
Continually look for opportunities for cost reductions and cost avoidance.
Understand, support and comply with current Molex policies and practices related business programs. Including but not limited to government regulations, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S), Six Sigma & Lean Manufacturing, Total Quality Management (TQM), and Management Systems.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor's Degree
7+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or sourcing, focused on direct spend
Fluent in business English

Master's Degree
Metals category management experience
Previous background in Engineering, Finance, Project Management and/or Business Management
Experience working with international teams
Experience in supplier and/or contract management
For this role, we anticipate paying $130,000 - $150,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
