Our Livonia, MI customer is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for a 2nd shift, contract-to-hire position (6-month contract) or will consider direct hire for the right candidate at an hourly wage of $21.00-$25.00.
Will train on day shift for 1-2 weeks, and then switch to 2nd shift. Ideally, they will say they want everyone to be “available” for all 3 shifts, but this is primarily a 2nd shift position. Half hour unpaid lunch.
1st shift: 6:00 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.
2nd shift: 2:00 p.m. – 10:15 p.m.
3rd shift: 10:00 p.m. – 6:15 a.m.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair mechanical problems on all automated weld cell equipment
- Reduce downtime and increase throughput on the automated weld cell
- Lead role in current and future automation projects
- Support outsourced preventative maintenance program
- Ensure compliance of MIOSHA regulations
- Lock out/tag out (LOTO) machinery when necessary
- Report accidents and damaged equipment immediately to a supervisor
- Follow QS-9000 & ISO-14001 procedures
- Assist with training of apprentices (if applicable)
- Assist manufacturing engineer with installation of automated equipment
- Take lead role in transition team for new equipment launches
- Dedicated maintenance resource for implementation of Six Sigma projects
- Travel to supplier locations to support equipment builds
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Work within company principles
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years’ in maintenance or technology in a production atmosphere
- Troubleshooting and testing experience in testing of metal stamping presses, weld controls, robotic controls, and hydraulic and pneumatic controls.
- Pneumatic and PLC controller program/troubleshooting skills
- Must have basic hand tools, basic electrical troubleshooting meter
- Programming skills in Microsoft Windows 98, Allen Bradley, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5, ABB Rapid (doesn’t need all of them, but at least a combination of two or more).
- AAME, AAEE or similar field preferred
- State Certification preferred
- Experience in Omron CX programming software and AutoCAD is preferred
- Electrical skilled required: 480, 240, 120 VAC experience, single and three phase
- Experience with 24 VDC Control voltages
- AC Induction and servo motors, drives and controls experience
- Experience with input and output devices (i.e. proximity switches, solenoid valves, motor starters, etc.)
- Analog devices (i.e. transducers, encoders) experience
- Building control panel enclosures (i.e. layout, wiring, & debugging in accordance to system schematics) experience
- Assist in training and development of new colleagues and cross-training of existing colleagues
- Communicate needs and concerns of colleagues to appropriate personnel
- Must be able to work any shift, if the company needs coverage, however, this position is on 2nd shift (2:00 p.m. – 10:15 p.m.); ½ hr unpaid lunch with full lunchroom, vending machines, and equipment)
- Must have steel-toed workboots; safety glasses & ear protection will be provided.
