Essential Duties Responsibilities
· Using SolidWorks, design components for heavy trucks that are safe and robust, in a timely manner, while also being cost-effective, easy to manufacture, and stylistic.
· Collaborate with third parties to integrate industry-standard components into custom, purpose-built firetrucks.
· Read and interpret vehicle specifications.
· Identify and correct specification errors from Line Process Requests (LPRs) to ensure the accuracy and reliability of designs.
· Support Production, Sales, Purchasing, Warranty, and Customer Service departments as a subject matter expert as related to Engineering.
Qualifications
· A Bachelor of Science Degree, Mechanical Engineering or related.
· Experience in plumbing, piping, or water pumps preferred.
· A capacity for critical thinking and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
· The ability to comprehend, analyze, and execute on schedule.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· 1-3 years of experience in product development, design, or related.
· Competency with 3D CAD design using standardized GD&T principles.
Qualifications That Will Set You Apart
· 3+ years experience in automotive, heavy trucks, or related engineering.
· Experience in plumbing, valves, valve linkage operations (ergonomics, basic pump operation)
· Experience with FEA simulations.
· Sheet metal design experience.
· Experience with automated or metadata-driven modeling (e.g., DriveWorks or Autodesk iLogic).
· Hands-on experience with automotive or heavy truck components.
· 2+ year’s experience using Solidworks large assemblies.
General Physical Requirements:
Office work is generally sedentary in nature. Office environment physical demands include:
· being seated at a desk for extended periods while talking on the telephone or working on a computer;
· walking, standing, occasional lifting and carrying (up to 15 lbs);
· frequent near vision for reading and computer work;
· repetitive use of hands, fingers, wrists for keyboard and other business machine usage;
· occasional stressful conditions.
