SUMMARY
The Part-Time Resilience Coach supports nursing, EMS, and healthcare students in cultivating the skills, mindset, and strategies necessary to thrive academically, professionally, and personally. This role integrates one-on-one coaching, small-group facilitation, classroom instruction, and clinical and simulation debriefing to help students manage stress, strengthen coping strategies, and foster resilience in healthcare environments.
The Resilience Coach equips students with evidence-based resilience skills, reflective practices, and stress management strategies that promote emotional well-being, professional growth, and long-term sustainability in the nursing field. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, skilled communicator with experience in coaching, nursing, social work, counseling, or related fields, and will play a critical role in preparing students to balance the emotional and professional challenges of nursing, EMS, healthcare education, and clinical care.
KEY Responsibilities/Duties
- Provide one-on-one resilience coaching for students to support personal and academic challenges, self-care strategies, stress management, and goal setting.
- Facilitate simulation debriefings with students and faculty that address emotional processing, coping strategies, and professional reflection following clinical simulations.
- Offer mental health referrals by providing a safe, supportive environment for students to explore challenges, while collaborating with appropriate campus or community resources when needed.
- Design and deliver classroom sessions on resilience, communication skills, stress management, and professionalism in nursing.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate resilience-building practices into nursing curriculum and clinical learning environments.
- Provide group workshops on resilience, mindfulness, and compassion fatigue prevention.
- Contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement of student support models related to well-being and professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing, Social Work, or Counseling, strongly preferred.
- Certification in coaching, resilience training, or mental health support (e.g., Martha Beck Coaching, resilience facilitation, mental health first aid) is desirable.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in healthcare, higher education, coaching, or counseling.
- Demonstrated knowledge of resilience practices, stress management, mindfulness, and wellness strategies applicable to nursing and healthcare.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse student populations.
- Experience with classroom instruction, facilitation, and student-centered teaching methods.
- Familiarity with nursing, EMS education environments, including clinical simulation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works closely with Nursing and EMS Program faculty, simulation lab staff, and student services.
- Provides both scheduled and drop-in coaching sessions.
- Engages in classroom teaching, simulation integration, and student workshops.
- Flexible schedule may be required to support students during peak stress periods (e.g., exams, clinical rotations).

A Resilience Coach plays a critical role in student retention, academic success, and preparation for the demands of nursing and EMS practice. This position helps future nurses and EMS clinicians to strengthen their resilience, develop the skills to thrive in high-stress environments, and sustain their personal and professional well-being.
Pay Rate: $43.00/hour.
Hours: Hours vary to accommodate classroom, clinical, and individual coaching needs but will not regularly go over 28 per week.
