DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Portfolio Architect (PA) is responsible for the development of the overall IT vision & strategy that underlies the business domain, transforms that vision through execution into a consistent strategy throughout the domain & aligns with the Enterprise Architecture Center of Excellence (EA COE). The PA’s primary role is to ensure that solutions fit within business domain and enterprise context. The solution must align with business goals & processes, uses & provides enterprise information consistently, integrates effectively, supports a common application environment and user interaction model, uses the common technology platform, & achieves enterprise level security. The PAs are formally assigned to one or more business domains. The PAs act as a single point of contact and coordinate required architecture services for the domains’ application teams.
Position Duties
* Lead architecture solution discussions for projects, enhancements, and support issues within the Management Information Systems (MIS) team and the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)
* Act as a single point of contact and coordinate required architectural services for projects, enhancements, and support issues within Management Information Systems (MIS) and the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)
* Ensure the policies, principles and standards of the EA COE are employed
* Participate in defining Ford Credit architecture standards
* Author architectural assessments and architecture roadmaps
* Mentor developers in leveraging Ford Credit Frameworks/Services and applying best practices and standards
* Respond to requests for technical mentoring, troubleshooting, effective use of development standards and tools, and process guidance
* Lead/Assist in Proof-Of-Concepts (PoCs)
* Interface with IT management, project managers, technical leads, developers, architects from each discipline and business domain, USDM and Agile coaches, architecture assurance analysts, and customers as needed
* Works collaboratively with other portfolio architects, solution owners, application development, and infrastructure and data architects to identify and drive out development solutions.
* Understand architecture requirements across projects working with the functional owners and business analysts, and consolidate architecture requirements
* Participate in project chartering sessions; provide estimates for EAMS department
* Participate in vendor selection processes for app teams as needed
* Handle multiple project assignments with minimal direction
* Balance short-term versus long-term strategic actions
* Develops blueprints, patterns, and reference models to establish he IT strategy for the business domain.
* Translates nonfunctional and functional requirements into design, within enterprise context and transitions enterprise strategy and goals into tactical solution and delivery requirements.
* Provides guidance to project teams and others on application development approach, and the effective use of standards, frameworks, tools and processes
* Educates and mentors developers to leverage and adhere to data warehouse development and architecture standards and best practices.
* Researches and evaluates emerging technologies and their applicability for potential utilization for enhancing business capabilities.
* Applies and builds professional expertise. Values specialist expertise and capitalizes on the knowledge and skills of others. Contributes own expertise to achieve outcomes for the business unit.
