Job Description/Responsibilities
The Electric Field Leader will typically supervise 10-15 bargaining unit Electric Distribution employees. Work may also
involve managing and monitoring work performed by non-company crews. The work involves a mixture of standard to
advanced supervisory and operating responsibilities. In addition to responsibilities for lower rated positions, an Electric
Field Leader is responsible for managing successful headquarter business operations in a cost effective fashion while
maintaining a safe work environment and balancing needs of the customer and company. The Electric Field Leader
develops direct reports in both business knowledge and technical skills; plans and prudently manages the scope,
schedule and cost of construction projects; applies thorough understanding of policy coupled with leadership skills to
resolve process and employee issues; has thorough understanding of the Working Agreement and is adept at dealing with
local union leadership. Initiates and leads change to improve results. Professionals in this role have the ability to perform
effectively and efficiently in routine and non-routine/ emergency situations with minimal guidance.
Responsibilities will include supervision of electric distribution employees, on-call assignments, management of project
work including job site reporting, and working extended hours during restoration activities. The ideal candidate will be
safety focused and experienced in construction methods with the ability to accurately estimate hours required to complete
complex projects. The candidate will also be proficient in the storm process and use of supporting computer systems and
programs (i.e. Arcos, OMAR, Outlook) required to complete their day to day work.
*Note this position may be required to work afternoon and weekend shifts to support the OM&C workforce as needed.
Requirements/Qualifications
The developmental Electric Field Leader role requires technical knowledge in electric transmission, distribution and
metering gained either through a technical field of study and/or through related work experience. Also requires
demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices and procedures; the aptitude to learn electric distribution operations and
construction; demonstrated leadership capabilities including the capacity to lead change efforts in a competitive business
environment; and capacity to learn and successfully perform in the dimensions outlined in the applicable Electric Field
Leader Competency Assessment.
Working outside of normal work hours and responding to customer emergencies during anytime of the day, including
evenings and weekends is required.
The person in this position will typically have three years of related field utility experience. Candidates without previous
field leader experience will be considered as this is a developmental position. However, this position will be filled at the
appropriate level depending on experience.
Essential Functions:BR>Responsible for the planning, organization, coordination, evaluating and supervision of employees assigned to the
operation, maintenance and construction of Electric distribution systems, customer Electric services, electric generation
plant facilities, buildings and grounds or utility support areas. Recommends proposed changes and enhancements to
systems and facilities operation; responds to complaints and requests for information; prepares and maintains reports of
completed job orders and the status of jobs in progress. Inspects job sites to check on work progress, assure satisfactory
completion and plans new assignments; prepares requisitions for operations and maintenance supplies, equipment and
materials and supervises special projects as required. Conducts regular safety meetings, participates as a member of
safety committee; investigates and completes necessary incident reports and accident reports; maintains records,
prepares and submits required reports for appropriate agencies. Implements preventative maintenance programs.
