Material Handler
The Material Handler (MH) will obtain a Quality Audit Sheet (QAS) for the specific job to be set up indicating what table, what product and how many parts are to be produced by that particular table.
The QAS sheet contains a list of everything that is required to produce the particular part being set up.
The MH is to make sure that all listed items are at the line when needed and in the quantity needed. (THIS IS CRITICAL: Each set up MUST have the correct parts (part number) or the assembly will be built incorrectly. MH shall initial the QAS verifying proper material and quantity has been delivered.
When production is finished with a job, the MH must remove all unused material from the production table area and takes the finished job to Quality. Quality verifies that all boxes with partial material remaining have been sealed and properly identified, by a colored sticker, that quality has verified the material contained in the box is correct and matches the box identification.
Material removed from the assembly table when a job is completed MUST b returned to the designated storage area and put back on its corresponding skid.
It is important to rotate stock by ALWAYS using the oldest material first.
The MH is responsible for consolidating skids of material. In other words if there are several partial skids with the same material on them, combine the boxes of material all on one skid which will make more room for new material as it comes in; NEVER MIX PARTS ON A SINGLE SKID
The MH is responsible for emptying the cart6s of waste (empty boxes, paper, etc.) Into the dumpsters.
The MH is responsible for bailing cardboard.
Whenever possible, the MH will always keep plant clear of debris to insure traffic flow is not interrupted.
As required and directed by their supervisor or as required based on operational experience, the material handler will assist Shipping and receiving in moving material’s throughout the general plant area.
MH is responsible for placing new incoming material’s in the appropriate rack locations after shipping and receiving has formally received it. Work Instruction W-II (Product & Material Identification) details further on where material is to be stored (ref. Point #2) to facilitate rapid and correct retrieval.
MH as required is responsible for; loading and unloading material from secondary storage locations.
MH is required to dispose of any waste, including Universal Waste in appropriate containers.
