Our Auburn Hills, MI customer (will be in Troy until April 2016; then company relocates to Auburn Hills in the M-59 & I-75 area) is seeking an Aerospace Designer position for a contract-to-hire (min. 6 months) at an open pay range. Reports to the Design Leader. Hours are flexible, but once committed to the hours that is how they will stay; can start as early as 5:30 a.m. to as late as 7:30 a.m. and work a 10-hour shift Mon-Fri; and work 7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. = 56 weekly hours (minimum), with additional overtime available on occasion. Get ½ hour unpaid lunch and 2 breaks. US Citizens, Green Card Holders, & TN Visa Candidates are acceptable; will not sponsor or consider OPT candidates. Function: To support the Design Leader in the development of tooling solutions. To manage incoming and outgoing data in a controlled environment. To develop and maintain a CAD library of customer and company standards. To manage the customer and industry standards and specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the release of BOMs and drawings
- Assist in the development of tool usage instructions
- Maintain a specification and CAD standard library including controls of a data management log and review process
- Manage the transfer of technical data with external customers, internal employees and sources
- Follow customer and government regulations for data and export mgt.
- Shall be familiar with and implement the applicable legislative, customer, corporate, divisional, departmental, and job-related health and safety requirements including procedures, work instructions and forms.
- Assume other accountabilities and duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements:
- At minimum, 5 years’ design experience OR an Associates’ of Science in Design, Engineering, Quality or Manufacturing discipline is preferred
- Design, tooling, quality and mfg. or fabrication experience is preferred
- CAD (Catia or NX is required) design abilities; 3D modeling knowledge/experience is a plus
- Must exhibit strong organizational skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment including following on tools during the fabrication, build installation and commissioning phases of the project.
- Must be willing to work extended hours, when necessary, including overtime, weekends and holidays and on night-shift, as project and customer demands dictate
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with others, including peers and personnel in other departments
- Ability and willingness to travel to any of the customer and company’s work location in North America (US, Canada & Mexico-it is on the eastern side of Texas of Mexico in the Matamoros and like regions; not to Juarez), Europe (Austria) and Asia as required by management. NO LICENSE RESTRICTIONS of traveling internationally specifically Canada where the HQ is and a lot of their customers are located. Eligibility for clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods and the American ITAR requirements
