What you can expect to work on…
- Manage full-cycle payroll operations, including new hires, terminations, and staff status changes.
- Responsible for payroll and benefits billing activities.
- Coordinate appropriate use of the company’s timekeeping and payroll systems.
- Respond to staff inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax forms in a timely and meticulous manner.
- Serves as Subject Matter Expert for payroll system and process, including testing and setup of new systems and processes.
- Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
- Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.
- Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
- Coordinates open enrollment process including editing and publishing up to date materials, scheduling staff meetings, staff communication and enrollment updates to HRIS system.
- Coordinates day-to-day operations and regulatory audits for benefits.
- Administers all leave of absence programs (STD, FMLA, State Family Leave, ADA, etc.) to ensure conformance and consistency based upon applicable state and federal laws and policies.
- Advise and serve as main point of contact and LOA subject matter expert for staff member inquiries.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.
What you need to succeed…
- Bachelor degree in human resources or related discipline.
- 5+ years of payroll, benefits, and leave management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – you know how to develop & maintain strong relationships with all levels/teams of the organization.
- Understand how to integrate into a new team/organization – appreciate the history of current state, know how and when to make suggestions, as well as using just the right pace to reach the improved future state.
- Understand your own communication and learning styles, assess others styles, and are able to find the right path to connect the two.
- Exceptional technology skills – you find working with any software very comfortable and you easily adapt to new products and highly efficient with MS Office products.

- Knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies.
Great to have…
- Experience with Paychex system
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing & reporting
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)-APA
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, CEBS or CPP professional designation
