Job Description:
The Director, Global Product Commercialization will be responsible for defining and coordinating all the processes related to new product launches and will also be responsible for the overall process definition and improvement of product management processes and overall R&D metrics.
Key Responsibilities
Establish the global function of Program Management in the context of the R&D and GLS organizations. The successful candidate will work in the global organization as an agent of change to define and implement new processes to facilitate and streamline the launch and adoption of new products developed by Dematic’s Global R&D.
Manage a small team of program managers to coordinate product launch activities and drive the execution of product development processes in coordination with Software Development Scrum Masters and Mechatronics Project Managers.
Establish a continuous improvement practices for the processes to drive Product Development Excellence, including deployment of agile and lean practices across the R&D organization.
People and Budget Management of his/her team with emphasis in hiring and retaining a world-class program and process management team.
Product Launch and Organizational Readiness
* Drive the definition of the global product launch process and establish a continuous improvement cycle around it.
* Establish and conduct a “Beta” review board to select candidate customers and projects for products during the Beta stage.
* Establish “product launch teams” for each product family, ensuring the collaboration of regional organizations, Global Operations and Global Project Engineering and installation.
* Establish a global Product Issue Tracking system in collaboration with the PLM initiative and affected stakeholders (e.g. Customer Service)
* Coordinate and validate, with his/her team, the launch activities for all the products developed by Dematic Global R&D, including (The resources for these activities may come from other teams, like Technical Documentation or Marketing):
*Product Beta Readiness Audits
*Marketing Launch
*Training for Regional Sales, Regional Solution Development and GPEI
*Beta Customer Plans & Coordination
*First Customer System Coordination (Global and Regional)
*Production and Supply Chain Readiness
*Information Systems (IT) (e.g. SAP)
*Global Tools Readiness
R&D Program Management
* Agile Project Management (Scrum Master) to GLS’s “Product Management Portfolio” process (Requirements Definition Process).
* Leadership in key cross-functional initiatives under the responsibility of R&D (e.g. Differentiate Dematic)
* Product Issue Tracking and Triage Process.
* Conduct Mxx Gate Audits
* Collect and Report R&D Metrics and KPI’s
* Establish a Product Development Process Continuous Improvement program
Measures of Success
* Benchmark and improvement of development cycle time with emphasis on the M60 to M80 cycle time.
* Establish and improve the indicators of the “Readiness Heat Map” or similar metric.
* Benchmark and Reduce Non Compliance Costs due to New Product Launches.
* Capture and Triage High Severity Issues within hours of report.
* Benchmark and reduce the impact on “Priority” orders to factories and Engineering due to new product launches.
