SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing exceptional frontline client interaction to the LTBB community. Serve as the first point of contact for transportation and assist patients in navigating barriers to healthcare in our community to connect them to the required services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide excellent customer service to clients, vendors, and fellow employees, and represent LTBB Health Department professionally and positively.
- Responsible for ensuring that patients receive exemplary customer service and are treated with respect and in a timely manner.
- Serve as the first point of contact for transportation services within the LTBB Health Clinic.
- Monitor transportation requests and driving schedules; deploy transportation resources efficiently.
- Oversee transport representatives to ensure vehicles are stocked with supplies and sanitized after each patient.
- Ensures schedule for car detailing and washing as described in policy.
- Scheduled vehicle maintenance as needed per vehicle, as established by the contractor.
- Become knowledgeable about the transportation software used for client transport and train others on the software as necessary.
- Document assessment using the R.P.M.S./E.H.R. system, report to the clinic nurse manager, and collaborate in the development of a client-centered plan of care.
- Support communication between employees in the field and clinical services where appropriate.
- Rotate with transportation representatives, provide transportation services, and support clients in accessing healthcare in our community.
- Learn and maintain knowledge of program services available to Tribal Citizens through LTBB Government programs and outside agencies.
- Advocate between the client and health services. Collaborate with other health care agencies and LTBB departments to identify and assist in navigating barriers to health care services.
- Reports to the clinic nurse manager about transportation needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the health clinic manager, in compliance with LTBB policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or GED is required, as well as a certified nursing assistant or medical assistant certification. A minimum of three years of work experience is required, where frontline customer service and working with computer programs are part of the position. Must have experience answering phones and multitasking in a detail-oriented, fast-paced work environment. Prefer experience in health-related services. Must possess current BLS certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must be able to manage a multi-line phone effectively, multitask, and thrive in a fast-paced, busy working environment. Must have utmost attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Must be able to establish and maintain working relationships with clients and the public. Must be friendly and personable, have excellent phone skills, and be able to communicate verbally clearly and confidently. Must be computer proficient and have demonstrated typing and data entry skills (minimum 60 wpm). Must be able to accept constructive feedback and have a positive working attitude. Must be able to work under stress while maintaining professional composure. Must be reliable and maintain a consistent work schedule. Must have a positive work history, including with LTBB.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and be insurable for the duration of employment.
COMMENTS: Indian preference will apply. Candidates must pass a thorough background investigation. Due to working in a healthcare environment, the individual must take a TB test and get an annual influenza vaccination. The individual must have a positive working history with previous employers, including LTBB. The LTBB Health Department is a scent-free environment.
ABOUT US: On Sept. 21, 1994, the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians (LTBB) was federally reaffirmed with the signing of Public Law 103-324. The Tribe is governed by a nine-member Tribal Council who serve staggered terms. The LTBB Government presently employs over 200 employees across more than 20 departments, ranging from Healthcare to Natural Resources.
