DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for conducting tests and research concerned with metallic materials used in the product line. Tests include the study of physical characteristics for manufacturing purposes or to determine compliance with manufacturing specifications and standards. Provide metallurgical process engineering support to manufacturing in a specific process that affects properties of materials e.g. forging, heat treat, welding etc. Assist in failure and post-test analysis on engine components following lab, customer or field returns Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced Engineer. Applies standard practices and techniques. Adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes. Participates in various projects as team member. Internal customers include engineering personnel in Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Sales/Product Engineering and Manufacturing Departments.
REQUIREMENTS:
BS degree Materials Engineering or Metallurgy.
1-3 years experience preferred, preferably in automotive high volume type of business.
Some knowledge of mechanical testing, including fatigue, tensile, hardness, and creep.
Requires excellent interpersonal skills in order to be able to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization from the shop floor to upper management.
