The Product Design Engineer is responsible to support Application/Product engineers and Designers to provide design and analyses of components and/or systems using state of the art technologies. They should be capable of analyzing the structural integrity of a component/system and simulating performance of components, assemblies and systems to support customers, applications/product and manufacturing engineering. Work should be completed using various CAD and Analytical/Predictive engineering software's as well as to create routines to improve performance of design and analysis techniques. The Product Design Engineer is responsible for assisting Designers and Application/Product engineers in assuring the functional performance of the components, assemblies and system providing also technical consultancy, as required. He/she is also responsible to keep updated with current technology in this field and to identify future needs as well to participate actively in developing an efficient quality system (TS 16949). The Product Design Engineer is responsible for providing necessary information to support designs that can be manufactured cost effectively, meeting customer requirements including performance and durability.
Knowledge of engine power cylinder components and manufacturing constraints.
Ability to provide design proposals for power cylinder components (piston, pin, rings, liner, connecting rod or other components) utilizing solid models and other design tools.
Ability to conduct Finite Element Analysis including mesh generation, interpretation of temperature distribution, stresses and fatigue life assessment.
Provide technical reports and/or presentation package to customers as required by applications/product engineers.
Improve design & analysis techniques and define new design guidelines to be adopted by the group to improve quality of the work and productivity.
Work with application/product engineers and other functions to resolve component functional problems.
Provide drawings, drawing checking and distribution of copies to the plant, participate in Design FMEA, APP and DFM as required
Ability to conduct Finite Element Analysis including mesh generation, use of appropriate boundary conditions and final interpretation of temperature distribution, stresses and fatigue life assessment.
Ability to work with other simulation tools such as piston dynamics, ring dynamics and/or other software's to analyze power cylinder system
performance.
Should be able to work and evaluate various 'analysis software programs and should very knowledgeable about the capabilities and the
limitations of these software packages.
Provide support to application/product engineers and represent the group as a technical consultant for application/product engineers and customers
Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
Maintain contact with other FMPS facilities to maximize expertise on design and analysis and communize the tools and techniques as much as possible.
Each employee has the authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities relating to the design, product, process and quality system and has the authority to stop further work on non-conforming suspect product until the deficiency or conditions have been
corrected.
Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor.REQUIREMENTS:Bachelors in Engineering degree required. Masters degree in Engineering desired. Minimum of 5 years of experience in engine design or parts design. Proficient in Pro E software required. Experience with UG/Catia and Windchill preferred.
