Title: Field Engineer- HVAC/Construction
Location: Brighton, MI
Position Description:
The Field Engineer is responsible for providing technical service activities including trouble shooting, installation, and start-up of equipment to ensure performance and specification compliance that is consistent with Ingenuity IEQ’s quality standards, service contracts, and funding parameters. The field engineer will also plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated projects. It is required that the field engineer achieve desired cost estimates to successfully accomplish Ingenuity IEQ’s gross profit and long-term growth plans.
Qualifications:
Education
- Associates or Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related HVAC engineering field (or trade school equivalent).
Experience
- 2 years’ experience in servicing products and installation in a HVAC/HVAC Controls industry.
- Experience with DDC controls, preferably with BACnet and/or LonWorks.
- Ability to understand and remain fluent in construction plans and blueprints.
- Experience in Electrical and Mechanical troubleshooting on computer based controls systems.
- History working with projects such as federal projects, healthcare, laboratory institutional work and mission critical.
- Good communication/Public Speaking skills to interface with clients and conduct training seminars.
Computer Skills
- Must be fluent in computer software programs such as MS Excel, Word, Project, Power Point, Visio & Novell GroupWise (or Outlook)
Primary Job Responsibilities:
General
- Maintain familiarization with the equipment, systems and products associated with the job. Be aware and knowledgeable of how each component works, how to apply them to different applications and how they function within the overall system, keeping current on all product line changes and system technology improvements.
- Ensures all work is performed according to company policies and standards, contractual terms and conditions, and in accordance with all MIOSHA/OSHA safety regulations, government laws, ordinances and court rulings in those jurisdictions in which the company operates.
- Ensures proper housekeeping of project sites, facilities and inventory at all times.
Project Planning
- Accurately estimates the field labor required to perform a task or execute a project and provides to Project Manager for Project Estimate.
Project Execution
- Performs complete installation, start-up, trouble-shooting, and commissioning on assigned projects.
- Installs equipment and systems consistent with all project or job specifications, submittals and drawings as provided by engineers, designers and contractors.
- Coordinates sub-contractors’ work activity including the scheduling of the start and progress of work, resolution of inquiries and conflicts to accomplish service agreement completion within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
- Inspects all ordered equipment to verify compliance with service agreement and project specifications. Checks in-coming equipment shipments for accuracy and damage and corrects any errors to the benefit of the company.
- Works with the Project Coordinator to accurately secure all equipment to ensure delivery to the site on a timely basis per the project agreement.
- Manages service agreement and project expenditures, equipment procurement and labor utilization to meet or exceed service agreement and project budget goals for those items under his/her accountability.
- Provides job progress information to Project Manager for project billing and work-in-progress reports.
- Determines inconsistencies between project data and field conditions and communicates to Design Engineers to develop RFI’s.
Project Close-Out
- Maintains and provides accurate project documentation to the Project Manager to complete the as-built/O&M’s within 4-weeks of completion date.
- Completes all project documentation in an accurate, neat, and timely manner, to include project documentation, service reports, start-up sheets, calibration reports, hood reports, truth tables, etc. and transfers information to the Service Coordinator within 24-hours of completion as per closing procedures.
- Executes facility and user training in proper application, use, and operation of products.
