Job Description:
Dematic has an immediate need for a Technical Training Specialist/Writer at our Grand Rapids, MI headquarters. Here's your chance to work on a growing team developing training, documentation, graphics, and illustrations for internal and external customers. We need talented, bright, and driven people who have excellent skills in writing training and reference documentation, graphic design, and technical illustrating. Familiarity with operations in a manufacturing/warehouse environment is preferred, but not required. We will consider candidates who have minimal experience and show evidence of exceptional potential.
The position requires:
* Experience analyzing, designing, and developing effective technical training and technical documentation.
* Deep understanding of adult learning, instructional design, and technical communication principles.
* Experience in eLearning programming using software such as Articulate.
* Extensive experience in technical writing both for training programs and reference manuals.
* Strong aptitude and experience in graphic design and technical illustrating.
* Flash/Java programming knowledge and experience preferred.
* A person who is exceptionally savvy on a wide range of software and media, with the aptitude to learn new programs quickly and help others do so.
* Ability to analyze and assess training/communication needs and write learning plans; developing a clear understanding of the audiences’ needs.
* Ability to develop technical manuals, training guides, training outlines, agendas, presentations, short videos, and job aids, according to the audience needs.
* Detail orientation, the ability to work independently, and to know when to ask questions and seek peer input.
* Ability to collect source data and work with SMEs to develop appropriate documentation and training materials.
* Skills at organizing and developing content with order, clarity, conciseness, efficiency, style, and terminology in mind. Ability to follow corporate marketing and technical communication standards.
* Ability to effectively facilitate and deliver instructor-led training sessions periodically.
* Motivation to work with a cross-functional team, follow standards, improve processes, communicate, and get things done.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and various learning development tools.
* Willingness to travel up to 10%.
