DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Application Engineer is the project manager responsible for the concept, design, development, and production support of Powertrain System Components and Power Cylinder Systems. This work includes Customer Program Development (APQP); Part Design; Verification & Validation Testing; Failure Analysis; Value Analysis/Value Engineering; Customer Interfacing and Simultaneous Engineering with the manufacturing plants. General knowledge of engine performance & test methods as it relates to Powertrain systems. General knowledge of statistics, CAE, and other analysis methods. Prepare tests requests, evaluate test results, and publish final test reports. Process Sample Orders and Request For Quotes. Assist in root cause analysis of EOT (End of Test) or field returned parts. Participate in the business group meetings. Work with manufacturing plants to assure manufacturability of designs. Develop working knowledge of Powertrain Components and Power Cylinder Systems. Assist in implementing new designs. Travel as required to support the customer and to support/develop new opportunities. Actively participate in achieving Corporate and Divisional goals and objectives for quality, cost, profit, return on sales, productivity as well as adherence to budget goals. Prepare detailed failure analysis reports. Responsible for developing new products as the designated project manager for the Customer Program Development (APQP) process. Work closely with the sales team developing specific customer account strategies. Develop power cylinder products based on the input from experienced Application Engineers. More developed problem solving skills; Ability to methodically organize a root cause investigation for End of Test results or field returned parts. Develop new products and materials to meet the changing demands of the marketplace. Ability to completely direct the engineering activities of a program. Assist less experienced Application Engineers. Ability to evaluate the business issues and prioritize activities. Assist/direct the education and training of less experienced Application Engineers. Ability to take a lead role in major advanced engineering projects. Each employee has the authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities relating to the product, process and quality system and has the authority to stop further work on non-conforming suspect product until the deficiency or conditions have been corrected. All employees will abide by the EHS policy endorsed by the PTC and ATC. Comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established under its EHSMS. Work toward achieving established objectives and targets; and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard. All employees are required to report, and if necessary stop, any activity that does not conform to the policy or has the potential to injure himself / herself.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in engineering
Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience
Engine knowledge preferred.
Project Management experience preferred.
30% domestic and international travel required.
Good interpersonal skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to be self directed.
Ability to lead a team, to achieve desired results.
Ability to conceptualize new designs and concepts.
Have the ability to perform detailed customer presentations.
Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects concurrently.
