Our Auburn Hills, MI customer is seeking (2) experienced Project Engineers (Material Handling/Fabrication) for direct hire positions. Reports to the Director of Glass Fabrication and Material Handling.

Summary: Responsible for $100,000-$10 million projects in relation to material handling (electrical controls & mechanical) commission, installation and turn-over to the plant. Responsible for the design and installation of one or more of the following:
- Float Glass Capping and Packing Systems
- Sputter Coater Systems
- Wet Coater Systems (Mirror Lines)
- Tempering Systems
- Laminating Systems
- Material Handling Systems
- Automation and Robotic Systems
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Flat Glass Engineering Dept., Regional and Facility teams to develop project scopes, budgets and schedules
- Manage all aspects related to assigned portion of the projects
- Prepare equipment and system requirements including design as required, specifications, installation scopes of work and RFQs
- Perform contractor analysis and selection, contract and contractor management as required
- Manage the scope, budget and schedule throughout the project and document, justify, and obtain approvals for significant changes
- Will effectively implement glass fabrication systems to support business and innovation needs
Requirements:
- Bachelors’ of Science Engineering Degree is required; (will not consider a Civil Engineering Degree, however.) Advanced technical degree and/or glass fabrication experience is highly preferred
- 6 years’ of Engineering experience is required (OR) 10 years’ in related work experience. Must not have just worked on project-based projects wants tenure at companies.
- Position #1 Medium experience level, able to work on their own (as part of a team) with general guidance. Probably in range of 6-12 yrs experience
- Position #2: Medium-High experience level, able to lead their project (as part of a team) with little oversight. Probably in range of 10-15 yrs experience
- Experience in glass fabrication capital projects and skilled in designs and installation supervision of float capping lines, sputter coaters, wet coaters (mirror lines), laminating lines, tempering lines, material handling, and/or automation systems. Companies that are similar and/or competitors are: Viracon, Old Castle & Cardinal (for Glass Fabrication and Glass Conveyors); and then equipment suppliers are Grenzebach, Tam Glass, Hegla and Bottero.
- Electrical controls and mechanical experience is required.
- Proven track record of successfully designing, specifying, contracting, and supervising equipment and systems installation.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment
- Strong technical knowledge to design, specify, procure, install and commission systems
- Skilled to predict, recognize, and effectively solve problems and interferences
- Communicate effectively (verbal and written) within the department, regional, and global organizations. Fluent in English.
- Ability to drive results through influencing others without having direct authority
Travel internationally when needed (likely 30%-40%), so needs valid Passport
