The City of Sterling Heights is seeking to hire a Parks Maintenance Mechanic who is hard-working, organized, task-oriented, and committed to a high standard of maintenance and repair within City parks and facilities! Position Summary
The Parks Maintenance Mechanic job classification is focused on maintenance and repairs to a large and varying inventory of Parks & Recreation facilities and parks. Under the direct supervision of the Parks Superintendent, the Parks Maintenance Mechanic is tasked with duties that maintain a safe and attractive park system. The scope of work requires that the Parks Maintenance Mechanic work in both indoor and outdoor environments during all four seasons. The Parks Maintenance Mechanic may be required to assist the Parks Superintendent in the performance of their duties. This individual may on occasion assign duties to all part-time park staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three years of experience in a municipal parks and recreation setting with a minimum of 1 year of park maintenance and repair
- Working knowledge of landscaping, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry trades.
- Valid unrestricted Michigan Driver's License with a good driving record.
- MDARD Certified Pesticide Applicator or ability to acquire within 6 months
