EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in computer science or related field.
- Combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
EXPERIENCE:
- Five years relevant experience as an application developer using PowerBuilder.
- Experience working on project teams that include business analysts and clients.
- Experience working in an Oracle environment, including writing procedures and functions in PL/SQL.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Senior-level expertise in PowerBuilder and object-oriented concepts.
- At least five years of PowerBuilder (11.5 or later preferred) software development experience.
- Experience in complex application development in a RDBMS environment.
- Recent programming experience writing functions and procedures in Oracle PL/SQL.
- Ability to troubleshoot client/server problems.
- Ability to comprehend the consequences of various problem situations and to make sound decisions or to refer problems to appropriate people for decision making.
- Ability to establish work flows, manages multiple projects, and meets necessary deadlines.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE (a PLUS):
- Knowledge of UNIX/Linux commands and tools, and shell programming a strong plus.
- Experience writing COBOL a plus.
- Experience writing Crystal Reports a plus.
- Ability to apply the principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
