Our Warren, MI customer is seeking a CNC Bar Lathe Programmer (flexible on shift) for a contract-to-hire position (min. of 6 months) at an hourly wage range of $21-26.   

• Day shift which runs 6am-4pm (4) 10 hour days Mon-Thurs and works 6am-12pm on Friday’s).
• Afternoon shift:  3:30 p.m. -1:30 a.m. Mon-Fri; averages 45 hours per week.   
• Doesn’t even have to work on-site at company, can do this from house, but it is preferred they are on-site at company.

Must pass Dako-administered AcuMax Index Survey (AI) – 2 pages prior to submitting resume to the customer.

 Responsibilities:

• Selects cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts and cutting tools to be used on basis of experience and knowledge of metal properties and shop mathematics, or by referring to tables, charts, or instructions on lay-out sheets.  Utilizes Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls
• Generates and edits G&M codes to make a conforming workpiece
• Saves programs in the correct server location
• Starts, operates and sets-up CNC Swiss-Style Lathe Turning machines and automatic CNC magazine barloaders to fabricate parts (turn, drill, bore, face, mill and thread) in accordance to specifications and tooling instructions; runs more than 1 machine at a time.   Applies metal machining methods.  Averages 1 set-up and 1 edit of a program per day for production parts.  Most runs are productions parts (not long-running, however), but they do some fabrication of sample parts.  
• Confers with Supervisor and studies blueprints and tooling set-up cards to determine parts to be processed.
• Installs holding devices and tools such as:  chucks, cutters, and drills; along with guide bushings and collets into machine using hand tools.
• Loads programs from laptop, flash drive, or directly from server to enter commands and retrieve pre-programmed machine instructions. 
• Set-ups, operates and troubleshoots CNC magazine barloaders.  Minor troubleshooting and manages machine lubrication and coolant systems.    Makes offsets to adjust or alter dimensions on workpiece.
• Observes and listens to machine operation for malfunctions, notifies supervisor when machine repair is required
• Assembles cutting tools and inserts in toolholders and positions toolholders in machine spindles as specified using hand tools
• Makes authorized changes to offsets on the machine to maintain quality of product workpiece
• Manipulates controls and enter commands to index cutting tool to specified set-point
• Changes cutting tools to maintain quality of workpiece to blueprint specifications
• Loads materials in barloaders, and monitors chip load
• Interprets and reads blueprint dimensions, and verifies conformance of workpiece dimensions to the blueprint visually and using inspection tools (gauges, micrometers, calipers, go-no-go’s, etc.)
• Demonstrates/trains operation of machine to CNC Operators/Tenders.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED is required
• Minimum of 3-5 years of CNC Bar Lathe programming experience is required.
• Must have experience programming G&M codes; uses Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls
• Must have experience with automatic bar Lathe, Swiss-style turning machines.  If they have brand name experience with one or more of the following that is a plus:  Miyano, Citizen, Mori Seiki. 
• Must be used to a fast-paced environment working on 1,000+ different parts annually
• Must pass Dako-administered AcuMax Index Survey (AI) – 2 pages prior to submitting resume to the customer.
• Must have safety glasses, and workboots.
