POSITION TITLE: Certified Nursing Assistant
REPORTS TO: Director of Patient Services
POSITION PURPOSE: The function of Certified Nursing Assistant is to assist the professional staff by performing various patient care activities and related non professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides personal care assistance to patients as directed: bathing, grooming, feeding and toileting.
- Prepares patient for meals, serves and collects trays, assists in setting up and feeding residents, serves fresh water and nourishment's when indicated.
- Helps patients with transferring and lifting, raising residents in beds and turning residents.
- Obtains vital signs on residents whose medical conditions warrants such monitoring. Obtains urine samples, weights, intake/output.
- Regularly checks on patients insuring comfort, dignity and privacy.
- Performs related CNA duties as assigned for efficient unit operation.
- Cleans unit as assigned by Nursing Staff, including IV poles, wheelchair/carts.
- Documents timely, accurate and appropriate clinical information in patients medical record;
- Follows established policies, procedures and standards for patient care.
- Communicate clearly and effectively to nurses, patients, families, guests and other members of the health care team.
- Maintains patient information in confidential manner.
- Attends hospital orientation, staff meetings and keeps all yearly mandatories up-to-date as required by HOH.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

- Customer and Personal Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Physical: Lifting 40 lbs.
Pushing: Up to 150 lbs.

Mobility is required:
- Must be able to kneel on the floor (CPR).
- Must be able to assist in physical restraint of patients .. Holding down a limb, therapeutic holds, safely support the weight of an aggressive patient/resident when it becomes necessary to assist them to the floor, twisting and/or rolling on the floor etc.) As taught in CPI.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified Nurse Aid Program or MI Current Certification
- High School Graduate or GED required
- Previous (2) year of experience is preferred
- Ability to work independently and without constant direction
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Be able to maintain a professional appearance and attitude when dealing with clients and co workers
