MBE Process Development Principal Engineer
Job Description:
The person in this role will be responsible for ensuring
supply of production and development III-V (InP, InGaAs, InAlAs, InGaAsP) epitaxial
material for use in the manufacture of MACOM APDs and PIN PDs. The responsibilities will include being the
liaison with external epi suppliers to guarantee that incoming epitaxial wafers
meet the design and quality requirements, managing the activities on the
internal MACOM epi growth tool and working with the product development team to
develop epitaxial material for new products. This person will establish and maintain test processes and
characterization methods that will monitor critical parameters; enabling the
organization through the use of SPC methodologies, to quantify and improve
process stability and yields. Additionally,
he/she will identify opportunities, both technological and organizational, for
improvements in the areas of cost, yield and performance and execute plans to
attain performance and cost targets.
Job Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Materials Science or related field with 10+ years of
experience in III-V MBE crystal growth. InP / InGaAs / InAlAs / InGaAsP
experience preferred.
Experience with appropriate materials characterization
techniques including at least some of the following: High Resolution X-ray
Diffraction, Capacitance-Voltage profiling (preferably Electrochemical
Capacitance-Voltage profiling), Hall Effect Measurement, and Photoluminescence. Familiarity with Thin Film analysis
techniques such as SIMS and Auger is desirable.
Familiarity with typical materials systems for compound
semiconductor devices.
Experience with data mining and statistics, SPC, DOE, and
structured problem solving.
Must have a proven track record of solving technical problems,
project ownership, meeting deadlines, and multitasking.
Must display a strong sense of ownership, drive and dedication
to continuous improvement.
Must possess the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional
teams to improve processes.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including
technical writing for summarizing data and findings, writing process and
equipment specifications and work instructions.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
