Title: Engineering Technician-IgnitionID: req5042Type: Full Time Function: Research & Development Division: PT - Bearings & Ignition - Ignition Location: Plymouth, MI, United States (47001 Port Street) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the setup and operation of metalworking, assembly, test and inspection equipment used in the manufacturing of experimental and prototype spark plugs. Assist in the development of new processes, procedures and equipment in the manufacturing of spark plugs and ignition components. Provide technical support to both all internal and external customers to include product and application engineering, sales and marketing and manufacturing.
Set up and operate various metal working and assembly equipment used in the manufacturing of experimental, prototype and pre-production metal components and assembled spark plugs
Inspect and measure component and plug assemblies with micrometers, gages and comparators to ensure they meet product print specifications
Evaluate tooling and machinery changes, CNC programs, print specifications and processes used in the development of new product and processes
Fabrication/Design of simple fixtures/assembly devices
Ability to create mechanical drawings using ACAD/ProE
Read and interpret product drawings
Follow established work instructions and procedures to produce plug components, plug assemblies and finished product
Perform other duties as required
Travel requirements~10% (Domestic-70%/ International-30%) REQUIREMENTS:
Associates Degree/Certificate in Manufacturing Technology discipline and/or previous experience in operating machine shop, tool and die making, metal cold forming or assembly equipment.
2 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
