Are you a well-rounded Engine Design and Development Engineer looking for a dynamic company to join? Due to our steady growth, we have an immediate opening for an Engine Design and Development Engineer in our Advanced Engineering Division. This role includes engine technology development, design, instrumentation, controls, testing, and analysis activities in support of advanced engine research and development programs. The Engine Design and Development Engineer should be comfortable working with multiple aspects of engine design and development including both analytical and experimental methods. Experience with project planning, risk management, budget control, and quality systems would add value. The Engine Design and Development Engineer role includes direct customer interaction, internal and external, as well as a team working environment. This position is located at our Livonia, MI facility.
Qualifications:
BS or MS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
Expertise in at least two of the following: base engine design, design for manufacturing, engine development, combustion analysis, CAE design analysis, statistical methods/parameter design.
1 – 3 years of experience with engine design, development experimental evaluation (experience gained as a result of a university graduate engineering program will also be considered).
Proven ability to solve a variety of engine development problems through design analysis, test design and results evaluation.
Strong skills and experience desired in engine testing with familiarity with engine test data management and combustion thermodynamics analysis.
Familiarity and ability to conduct engine performance and combustion analysis using available commercial engine and powertrain simulation tools.
Skilled in use of software supporting experimental engine testing and development including design of experiments (DOE), combustion analysis, project management, FMEA, DVP, etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including report preparation and presentation.
Preferred Skills:
Design of experiments for multi-variant systems, experimental evaluation, data analysis and regression for system response and interaction with variations.
Quality control of system under tests; tracking of hardware changes in course of development program; data collection, analysis and report generation, statistical data analysis methodology.
Experience in test planning and execution in support of either automotive or aerospace qualification testing for production.
Experience with technical program management tools.
Experience with diesel and alternate fuel engine testing, combustion analysis, data analysis and presentation to support development program objectives.
Capability to conduct CAE analysis to influence the design/redesign in support of the engine development effort.
