Status: Part Time -Requires Full Time Training for 9 weeks in Lansing
Hours: Variable schedule including monrings, days evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays.
Union Position Rate: $12.35/hour
Are you looking to make a difference in the job you do?From setting up the blood collection equipment at work sites, to putting a needle in a donor's arm, as a Phlebotomist at the American Red Cross you will work all aspects of blood drives at high schools, offices & churches throughout Flint, MI and the surrounding areas. In your first three months on the job, we will provide you with comprehensive, paid training on all aspects of whole blood collection techniques and documentation requirements.
Key performance objectives include:
* Balance production, donor care & quality requirements to meet daily blood collection goals
* Take the time to personally connect with donors - listen to their stories and help them understand the value of their donation
* Be detail oriented all day, every day to ensure that the blood you collect meets regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused
* Stay flexible to work a highly variable schedule that includes early start times, late end times, and weekends & holidays to meet the needs of our blood drive sponsors and donors.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Medical assistant or phlebotomy training is preferred. Ability to perform Blood Pressures and Vitals required. Customer service experience, effective verbal communication, and public relations skills are preferred. A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
o Large amounts of travel are involved. However the goal is to keep you in your home district. (any lodging is always handled by the American Red Cross)
o A valid driver's license is mandatory to hold a position as a traveling phlebotomist.
o Blood Drives are rarely cancelled due to weather conditions. You would be expected to travel in inclement weather. If your blood drive is cancelled, we will attempt to schedule you at another location.
o A phone or paging device is mandatory.
o Punctuality and reliability are essential to this position.
