Job Summary: This position oversees all aspects of the pupil transportation program to maintain and promote positive community and employee relations while meeting the service goals of the department.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Act as the primary representative of the Transportation Department responsible for supervising a staff consisting of Transportation Office Personnel, School Bus Drivers, Monitors and Mechanic(s) to ensure employees’ compliance with policies, procedures and customer expectations.
2. Ensure the efficient coordination of the assignment of bus drivers, aides and substitutes to bus runs and extra-curricular trips per policy with staff.
3. Oversee staff coordinating the assignment of buses and other equipment to the needs of the route or trip.
4. Facilitate employee timecard review and payroll processes.
5. Develop strategies with the METS Corporate Office to ensure a high level of service and a positive work experience for the METS Bus Drivers, Monitors, Mechanics and Staff assigned to the District.
6. Work with employees, school administrators, emergency services and the general public to facilitate resolution for problems encountered within the pupil transportation services provided.
7. Oversee the processing of student address changes, adds/deletions and updates for the General Education & Special Education student populations.
8. Direct the maintenance of up-to-date maps and route sheets for all bus routes utilizing routing software.
9. Ensure an accurate Driver Call List is available for use.
10. Type a variety of communication material from inception, rough draft or instruction, such as letters, memoranda, bulletins & requisitions.
11. Gather data to prepare a variety of federal, state, district and/or METS reports.
