Responsibilities
NURSE PRACTITIONER / PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT - OBSERVATION UNIT
Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care with the supervision but not necessarily the presence of a qualified physician member of the medical staff. Takes patient history, performs physical examination, orders and interprets tests, makes diagnoses and institutes appropriate treatment programs. Performs nursing functions independently. Works in collaboration with staff physicians, house officers, nurses and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved in a safe and efficient manner. Specific procedures are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
(PA) Bachelor's Degree. Masters Degree preferred. Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program. OR (NP) Masters prepared Registered Nurse who has graduated and taken the board certification within their chosen specialty. Requires Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National boards of the specific discipline. Licensed and certified in Michigan and has no contingencies on their license. Must hold both a BLS certification. Must be eligible or have obtained a DEA number for prescriptive authority in Michigan.
