Responsibilities
Assesses, designs and evaluates educational programs and processes that are aimed at improving the quality of provider documentation practices for Henry Ford Health System. Serves as an educational resource for providers and/or coding staff in regards to billing, coding and documentation.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
* Master's degree in healthcare arena is preferred.
* One to two years previous management experience is preferred.
* Previous healthcare setting experience with documented physician interaction required.
* Extensive knowledge of CPT, ICD9-CM, APC, CMS E/M guidelines coding from chart notes, operative notes and teaching hospital supervision guidelines through knowledge of the Medicare/Medicaid regulations, Federal Register, Federal and State Insurance Billing laws and mandates.
* Proficient and effective analytical skills are required for this position and must be displayed upon request.
* Proficiency in problem solving, independent work completion, and adherence to crucial deadlines, positive team environment experiences and effective organizational skills are required for this position.
* Effective and professional written and verbal communication skills are required.
* Extensive PC knowledge, especially in the area of word processing, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint.
* Experience in academic health care auditing is preferred.
* Knowledge of Joint Commission regulations with quality experience preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES:
* Must be CPC, CCS, RHIT or RHIA certified. Additional specialty coding certification preferred. WORKING
CONDITIONS:
* Normal office environment with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or extreme temperatures. May require some travel between local HFHS sites.
