Job Description:
Nexteer Automotive is looking for an energetic individual with working knowledge of machining and tooling to assist our organization in optimizing machining/tooling processes. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in various machining methodologies. This position requires a candidate who enjoys working with people, who has a solid understanding of machining and tooling, and who can teach and enforce these methodologies. Occasional international travel to work with and train our various international facilities is required.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with in plant and central engineering teams to develop improved machining methods, cycle times and workholding fixtures.
- Implement lean manufacturing concepts with regards to machining and part processing
- Know and understand or be willing to be trained in Mastercam and common CNC programming and machining methodologies
- Have a firm understanding of chip control, insert technologies, feed and speed calculations
- Understand machine design and control methods, machine tools and work holding systems
- Be willing to work with both US and International plants on support of tooling initiatives and task teams. Will require some international travel annually
- Be willing to work with a wide variety of problems and processes, as well as local teams and cultures
- Demonstrated results oriented mindset, with focus on results
- Willing to receive training in the most up to date CNC technologies and ability to apply these tools to products and processes across multiple platforms
Job Requirements:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- High level of analytical and communication skills
- Working knowledge of CNC programming
- Working knowledge of machine and tool design
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical controls
- Knowledge of GD&T as well as some Problem Solving Strategies
Ed Education Requirement:
Bachelor Degree – Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering
