Job Description/Responsibilities
The Project Scheduler provides support for electric and natural gas distribution construction project managers for capital projects as well as non-traditional projects as needed for Energy Delivery. The Energy Delivery Project Management Department is located at the Jackson Parnall Road office and supports projects throughout Michigan's lower peninsula. The office location may be flexible.
Responsibilities include:
-*Creating and publishing project schedules supporting the Energy Delivery Project Management department which works on both electric and gas projects
-*Working closely with the project managers, engineering, field operations, and vendors to oversee scheduling activities and monthly reporting on assigned construction projects.
-*Tracking and maintaining schedules with regards to updates and variance analysis;
-*Providing support in maintaining the project management triple constraint of scope, cost and schedule;
-*Developing and publishing reports for internal project stakeholders and the project management department;
-*Maintaining project related details in the Primavera Project Portfolio or Microsoft Project for monthly reports.
Requirements/Qualification
The qualified candidate:
-*Must have a working knowledge of the full scope of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) involved in a project lifecycle required.
-*Must have a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering Technology or General Business Administration from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
-*Will have 2 or more years of experience in project controls and/or project schedule management
-*Should have Project Scheduling Professional certification
-*Should have experience in Primavera P6 Project Management
-*Will have experience with the MicroSoft office suite of software, especially Excel, Outlook and Word
-*Would have previous experience with SAP
-*Must have a valid driver's license.
-*Will be process and detail oriented, an analytical thinker and be capable of working independently or on a team, having good oral and written communication skills.
The position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education and experience.
Essential Functions:
Planning & scheduling of large projects for Electric and Gas Distribution systems as well as facilities and ancillary support process for all utility operations. Duties and who this individual reports to will fluctuate between projects. Individual possesses the skills to lead, problem solve, and work well in
a team environment. Individuals should exemplify safe work practices and follow the Company's compliance standards. Lead and/or assist with project scheduling for projects to include planning, coordinating and scheduling activities. Provide project planning services with accuracy, integrating all applicable governmental laws and Company standards and procedures on time. Use computer assisted scheduling software to prepare planning documents. Understand and follow company established standard procedures for file structure. Utilize effective oral and written communication skills to provide technical expertise to coworkers, clients, customers, government entities and the public. Attend internal and external meetings. Provide all project controls services in a legal and ethical manner. Reviews operating and construction sites to monitor progress.
Hours and Travel
This position requires the individual work a minimum of 40 hours per week (45-50 typical) with 85% of time spent in the office or specific field locations. Travel is required to job sites and project meetings and could be significant dependent upon location. Individuals need to be willing to work additional hours as necessary to meet deadlines or assist with storm restoration activities. Individual should be willing to participate in the on call rotation in case of potential storms. Individual may have to work outside of assigned headquarters to help with storm restoration which may require overnight stays
