Job Description/Responsibilities
This position will oversee the Metering Technology Center (MTC) serialized device inventory, including over 4.5 million devices including electric meters, gas meters, metering transformers, gas correctors, and regulators for state-wide Consumers Energy locations. This role will provide supervision over the Shipping and Receiving department and be responsible for the on-going monitoring, reporting, forecasting, budgeting and analysis while defining appropriate replenishment levels for. Responsibilities include:
-*Ensuring appropriate device asset tracking
-*Establishment, modification and communication of business rules for serialized devices
-*Identifying continuous improvement suggestions/system requirements to provide appropriate visibility, tracking and reporting for serialized devices
-*Analyzing inventory levels, aging, warranty, exceptions and resolving any discrepancies/concerns
-*Being a key point of contact for daily inventory activities and coordination with the other internal departments as needed
-*Working with Purchasing on any material issues including warranty and recycled devices
-*Coordinating the physical inventory process for the serialized devices and/or disposal of retired assets (if applicable)
-*Identifying material issues (warranty, shortage, etc.), implement quick resolutions and/or contingency planning and the ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining excellent customer service.
-*Monitoring First-In First-Out (FIFO) for serialized devices at the MTC in regards to devices being sent to the field and for recycled devices being returned to the MTC from the field
-*Managing physical inventory process and/or retirement of serialized devices for the company
-*Supporting Smart Grid deployment processes related to new device shipment sample testing and working to change out legacy meter inventories
Requirements/Qualification
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience. Less than a Bachelors degree may be acceptable if accompanied by a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.
Required Skills:
The MTC Device Logistics position must possess:
-*Proven analytical and diagnostics skills

-*Experience using computer software (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)

-*Ability to lead and supervise a unionized work force
-*Strong organizational skills (time management and multi-tasking)
-*Ability to coordinate activities and collaborate across multiple headquarter sites
-*Apply an in-depth knowledge of principles and practices of Inventory Management processes
-*Knowledge of material tracking via a supply chain system (experience with serialized devices preferred)
Preferred Skills:
-*Thorough knowledge of and experience with Supply Chain processes including serialized devices
-*Knowledge and experience with SAP * Supply Chain, Materials Management, Quality Management, and Device Management
-*Understanding of pre-capitalized assets
-*Skilled in collaborating with internal and external clients including conflict resolution
-*Knowledge of and experience with SAP * Business Intelligence reporting
This job will be filled at the appropriate level in the technical analyst job family commensurate with the successful candidate*s background and experience.
Essential Functions:
General technical analysis supports the planning, technical analysis, general management, negotiations, transactions, customer services and auditing of a wide variety of technical and business functions and technical processes of specific operating and support areas throughout the company. Duties and who this individual reports to will fluctuate between projects, departments and offices. Lead and/or assist with technical support for the plans, reports, impacts, contracts, schedules, estimates, data collection, observation, and field investigation. Provide technical, non-engineering support services with accuracy, on time and under budget. Use computer assisted applications software and equipment to prepare technical support documents. Understand and follow company established standard procedures for file structure and standard procedures for projects. Become familiar with business and technical plans and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately. Assists in client contact and communication. Utilize effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public. Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders. Attend internal and external meetings. Provide technical support services in a legal and ethical manner.
Hours and Travel:
This position requires the individual work a minimum of 40 hours per week with 90% of time spent in the office or specific field locations.
