Responsible for Design, Development, Testing and Analysis of Electrical and Mechanical components, systems and processes for the Ignition Group including spark plugs, ignition coils, advanced igniters and electronics. Interface with Customers, Application Engineers, Process Engineers, Manufacturing plants, and Suppliers to develop new product technology in the area of ignition systems and to move that technology toward production products. Ability to present results in customer review, industry and academic conference environments.The position requires a sound engineering knowledge of design principles grounded in mechanical and electrical theory along with the ability to apply this knowledge of materials, testing and product development. Experience in the root cause of failure analysis coupled with good communication and team-working skills. Apply basic technical disciplines from area of study. Project Management. Report writing and data processing using computer software. Prepare 2D and 3D mechanical drawing using computer software. Presentation preparation using computer software. Measurements and data collection, processing and interpretation using basic lab equipment - multimeters, scales, o-scopes, micrometers, etc. Perform root cause failure analysis of components. Develop design specifications and work instructions. Fabrication of simple fixtures and prototypes using common hand tools and machine shop tools. Design for high volume manufacture and manufacturing costs. Cost modeling. Interaction with customers and internal groups using interpersonal skills, and communication skills. Use of organizational skills to keep track of multiple projects. Provide support as requested by manager.REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors Degree in Engineering (preferably BSME or BSEE) 0-2 years experience in Engineering Experience in the automotive field, engines, or combustion a plus Use TS16949 Quality System. Use Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP): DFMEA, PFMEA, and PPAP.
