The Operations Controller proactively participates in the planning and managing of finance activities, initiatives and strategies for the business operating unit while interfacing with operations management, plant controllers and accounting/finance staff, and corporate finance and accounting. Specific areas of responsibility include development and maintenance of planning and budgeting systems, analysis and interpretation of trends, preparation of financial and management reports and procedures and the presentation of findings and specific recommendations to senior management.
Provides financial leadership, reporting, analysis, and support to the business operating management.
Assists in the development and management of the budget, including ongoing variance analysis.
Participates in the monthly/quarterly/annual consolidated forecast.
Participates in the consolidation of the business plan at the group level.
Provides financial analysis and controls covering diverse financial issues, e.g., leasing, capitalization, assets, projects, allocations, and other major initiatives.
Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the business unit, including its various locations along with corporate financial management.
Ensures compliance with global financial policies and procedures, including US GAAP, US SOX and local statutory reporting requirements.
Provides financial leadership and support as needed to various manufacturing sites.
May supervise the work of 1 or more financial analysts and/or managers. REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field. MBA or CPA preferred.EXPERIENCE:
Minimum eight (8) years related experience in an automotive manufacturing environment. Previous experience as a Plant Controller.REQUIREMENTS: Advanced level of knowledge and understanding of financial and accounting principles including U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and Internal Controls, and cost and general accounting. Strong business and financial acumen; in-depth understanding of the business. Knowledge of and experience with financial systems and other appropriate software. Leadership; a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others. Strong developer of others; ability to manage performance of team, and identify and implement developmental plans. Exceptional written and oral communication skills in the English language; exceptional presentational skills, with the ability to vary delivery and style to fit the intended audience. Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to create and maintain productive work relationships. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively function in a matrix reporting structure. Ability to analyze problems, exercise judgement, make sound objective decisions, and implement solutions at both a strategic and functional level. Significant capability, drive and initiative to create and manage own work agenda. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed. Abililty and desire to progress to greater levels of financial management responsibility, with the ability to relocate in the future for the right opportunity is preferred.
