Responsibilities:
We are willing to train the right person! This person will be training to do a variety of tests and measurements in our Materials Testing Laboratory. Responsibilities include laboratory testing process and procedures including designing and setting up unique tests, reporting results for conformity with specifications, building prototypes, maintenance and calibration of equipment, stocking materials lab supplies, organization of lab areas, shipping and receiving samples and products and supporting quality with sorting. We are looking for Material technicians who prefer a fast-paced, small company environment with flexible supervision and challenging assignments, and who seek the opportunity to assume new responsibilities. This position is located in our Livonia, MI facility.
Qualifications:
- Must have an Associate’s degree in Materials Science/Engineering or Engineering relate degree - or - minimum three years' experience in an engineering tech lab environment.
- Must have strong technical aptitude.
- Proficiency with general use of computers and software, including Excel and Word.
- Ability to learn new customized software tools as a materials lab technician.
- Ability to cooperatively give and receive instructions and exercise excellent time management skills in order to plan and complete multiple tasks.
- Strong organizational skills with good written and oral communications.
- Must have a keen interest in continued learning and a can-do attitude.
- Must be detail oriented and careful in work habits.
- While performing the duties of the Materials lab technician, employee will be required to lift up to 30lbs.
- Experience with ISO-9000 requirements and viscoelastic based materials is highly preferred.
