System Admin/AV tech (Plymouth, CTU)
Position Summary
The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and Partners. Basic IT troubleshooting and support of Cisco Telepresence systems within facility.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
• Interact with customers to understand their requirements and expectations
• Troubleshoot basic IT related issues
• Setup and run AV and multimedia systems at campus and executive meetings
• Troubleshoot AV issues via our Incident Management process
• VIP support
• Learn, run, maintain, and calibrate AV equipment including things such as projectors, audio systems, smartboards, etc.
• Act as the key contact to work with other vendors who support things such as HD Video Conferencing, conference phones, etc.
• Create and maintain a customer request log and schedule for AV requests
• Other site activities and responsibilities as needed
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
• Contribute to and maintain system standards
Operations and Support
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
• Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
• Provide Tier I/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues. Escalate via internal support team as necessary.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
• Associate (2-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science.
• Systems Administration/System Engineer certification Microsoft.
• Four to six years system administration experience
• Experience with Crestron systems
• Experience with Cisco HD video systems (Telepresence)
• Experience with Avaya phone and conferencing systems
• Microsoft Office365 collaboration tool knowledge
• Microsoft Windows 7, 8.1
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
• Responsibilities (on rare occasions) require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
• No regular travel required

LOCATION/TRAVEL/HOURS
Most work will be performed at the JCI Plymouth, MI Technical Campus (CTU)
Typical work hours will be 8:00am to 5:00pm M-F. However some flexibility may be required to support global meetings that take place outside of these core hours.
