Our Madison Hts, MI customer is seeking an experience Quality Manager for a contract-to-hire (min. 6 months), however, may consider a direct hire for the right candidate. Salary range $50,000-$70,000 or will put on hourly with overtime if the candidate prefers (works 40-45 hours from 7am to either 4pm if on salary gets 1 hour unpaid lunch or if on hourly works until 3:30pm w/1/2 hr unpaid lunch) with bonuses and BCBS healthcare, 401-K 6% match, and other great benefits.
Responsibilities:
- Inspects and tests products at various stages of production process using multiple inspection devices and determines acceptability (including First Piece, In Process, Suppler receiving inspection, and Final inspection)
- Maintain and track inspection equipment to ensure all equipment can always be located
- Creates inspection spreadsheets
- Interfaces with customers and suppliers as needed
- Maintains gage calibration and maintenance program - has capability to perform internal calibration on some hand tools (includes maintaining all hand tools and gages in an orderly fashion, maintaining traceability of status via computer system, as well as liaison with outside sources for calibration)
- Interfaces with manufacturing personnel on nonconforming product via NCR and CAR processes including work orders and scrap reports, assists, and provides input into shop floor problem solving
- Assists Quality Manager in various roles, including:
- Providing customers with certifications and data
- ISO Certification including third party audit involvement
- Internal audit
- New Part Planning (Contract Review)
- Customer Complaint Interface
Experience:
- Bachelors’ Degree in preferred, but not required
- 10 years’ experience quality management exp, having 1 direct report, reporting/documentation, and quality measurement experience is absolutely required
- Must have a machining experience background in a job-shop environment dealing with short-run machined parts. Someone with just plating/electro plating experience is not what they are looking for as it isn’t transferrable skills. They might even consider someone with machined parts experience and some plastics.
- Must have experience reading highly complex (sometimes 15 page) prints from customers to ensure quality.
- Must be experienced with GD&T, micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, optical comparators, etc. The candidate will be responsible for visually viewing fiber optic parts to ensure there are no burrs or defects in them. If they have CMM exp that is a plus, however, please note they do not have a CMM machine there now, but plans are to purchase one in probably 1-2 years.
