SUMMARY:
This individual will interface with plant leadership to improve processes, quality, and productivity, with a focus on lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with production leaders and operators on all engineering projects from concept to completion; maintain project schedules and consistently follow up to ensure successful project completion and follow-up
- Participate in the APQP process
- Work closely with product launch enginers to maintain PFMEAs, control plans, process flows, and inspection check sheets and ensure customer specifications for products, application, and documentation are included after launch
- Assist in the design of internally built equipment such as robots, pick and place units, and conveyors; utilize cost justification to select required components, automation, and controls for machine build and automation
- Drive and participate in lean initiatives such as CIAs, quick die changes, 5S, standardized work, ergonomics, SPM, uptime, error proofing, and lubricant reduction
- Own production-related goals and metrics; drive improvement to key measures
- Incorporate sensors and other measurement technology into new and existing processes to improve quality and productivity
- Use CMM data and statistical analysis to establish effective process controls to drive improvements to and promote process capability of processes and tools
- Identify potential safety issues with processes and systems and take appropriate action
- Engineer improvements for process setups, material handling, storage, layouts, work cells, and any other functions that directly impact performance, productivity, and quality
- Consistently adhere to and support company policies and procedures, including ISO, TS 16949, and safety regulations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- 2 to 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required; experience in metal forming preferred
- Proven experience leading and driving projects to completion
- Strong experience implementing and utilizing problem-solving tools such as 8D and 5Why
- Experience implementing lean manufacturing and/or continuous improvement initiatives
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Powerpoint)
