We are currently working with a customer in their search for a technical salesperson. This is a fulltime, direct hire role in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Technical Account Manager reports to the (Management Team) and is responsible for all department activities related to inside sales and customer support for the existing customer base. The Technical Salesperson will also provide core business development support, specifically for the engineering and development teams.
DUTIES | RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops, maintains and advances customer relationships and project support initiatives by engaging in daily correspondence regarding follow-up, product and project updates, and other customer requests
- Collaborates with engineering and development teams, as well as other key personnel, to understand customer requirements and promote the sale of all company products
- Presents products requiring extensive technical expertise and support for application and use into various industries
- Responsible for day-to-day correspondence with customers to present samples, approved quotes, product availability, project launch timing, pros and cons of multiple solutions, etc.
- Works with development, engineering and production teams to meet customer goals for VAVE initiatives related to product modifications, engineering changes and process changes
- Assists with new product launch activities, acting as a liaison between the customer and the development and engineering teams
- Prepares and delivers technical presentations and reports that explain products and/or services to both current and prospective customers
- Creates sales or service contracts for products
- Researches and identifies prospective customers for products and services
- Meets with potential customers, presenting products and capabilities
SKILLS | REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or related field required; or, a B.S. in Engineering preferred but not necessary
- 5+ years’ experience in technical sales in a manufacturing or supply chain setting strong preferred
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint; previous AutoCAD experience or exposure a plus but not required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain high standards of professionalism in a customer-centric role; previous customer service experience required
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Must be independent, self-driven and process-oriented
- Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively with all levels of personnel
- Must possess superior time management skills
- Ability to present complex, technical concepts to individuals in non-technical roles
- Ability to build and maintain trust-based customer relationships
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Position will require some travel (10-20%)
