SUMMARY
Sets up and operates manually controlled engine lathe machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and/or nonmetallic parts to very close tolerances under minimal supervision with keen attention to detail by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Working knowledge of blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, tools, speeds, feeds, and setup requirements, grind special tools where required, and produce to close tolerances to meet or exceed customer requirements and assure part integrity.
Complete working knowledge of machine, including back gears, speeds, feeds, threading, taper attachments, hydraulic tracer.
Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings.
Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
Able to do complete part layout for verification.
Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
Assist in training employees.
Must have personal tools.
Based on company necessity and operating conditions, may be assigned to the Tool Room.
Maintains good housekeeping practices at all times.
Understands, implements and maintains the company's quality policy in the performance of all duties and responsibilities.
In the performance of duties and responsibilities, ensures that requirements of society, including laws, statutes, rules and regulations, codes, environmental considerations, health and safety factors, and conservation of energy and materials are understood, implemented and maintained.
In the performance of duties and responsibilities if assigned to the Repair Station, assumes responsibility for ensuring compliance with the Company's FAA Inspection Procedures Manual and FAR 65, as amended.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Proficient knowledge in use of various machining tools and equipment. Proficient in operation of manually controlled engine lathes. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience machining exotic materials preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
